Elections are coming up for the Silicon Valley Bicycle Coaltion’s 2008 Board of Directors. Who will you vote for?
Our board members consist of eight talented and passionate cyclists that contribute large amounts of their own time and energy into to help us achieve the mission of promoting the bicycle for everyday use. A Director of the Board serves a two year term and more than four positions are available for election this year.
In addition to the usual eight, this year the Board has submitted a change in the Bylaws to increase the size of the Board. This change must be approved by a vote of the membership before it can take effect.
Please download the ballot (decjanballot.pdf) and take a look.
Elections will be held at the Winter Bike Party, December 13th. Please put your ballot in the mail by December 10th, or bring it to the party.

Thanks to the overwhelming flood of support, not only has the VTA Board of Directors enthusiastically approved of the $3.35M to help Cupertino build the Mary Avenue Bicycle Footbridge over highway 280, but they also voluntarily expressed desires that this project not delay other bicycle projects.
But it isn’t over yet. Before the end of November, we’re hoping final approval of the project will come before the Council, so we’ll need one more round of supportive expressions soon. We’ll keep you posted.
We’re almost there!

Additional funding for Cupertino’s proposed Mary Avenue bike/ped bridge over 280 will be on the VTA Board of Directors meeting agenda 5:30 pm this coming Thursday, November 1.
While the construction of this bridge seems to be more expensive than the original estimate, can you imagine how much easier commuting between Cupertino, Sunnyvale and West San Jose will be with a bridge built over 280 at Mary Avenue?
Help us support this bicycle and pedestrian bridge and show up to this meeting!
