Attendees introduced themselves. 2. Last meeting's minutes were approved. (Agenda items in order of presentation:) 3. Member and Attendee Reports: Redwood City BPAC, John L.: About 15 people attended the first meeting for getting acquainted. The next meeting will be mid-June. The Mayor, PW Director, and a Planning commissioner attended. There was a request for some of the C/CAG BPAC County bike maps for RC, to be sent via John. Request for endorsement, Steve V.: Elizabeth Boyd of Redwood City asks for support for the El Camino Grand Boulevard initiative by June 20th. This envisions better pedestrian facilities, trees, signals, sidewalks. Willow/101 interchange enlargement, Mike H.: Joe Hurley of SMCo. Transit Authority asks if we have comments on the design versions. Mike will carry plan copies to the Menlo Park BAC to see if they are aware of the details. 4. BTWD wrap-up: There was good attendance in Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties, and more bags could have been distributed. The San Jose Tied House afterparty was a great success. 5. N-S Route campaign, Didrik H.: Progress is slow following the Thunderhead Alliance process. It was suggested that the RC BPAC address the Arguello-to-Middlefield connection immediately. A core team needs to be created in that body to carry the campaign. SM Co., Bob C.: A parallel between the SF Valencia St. makeover and Middlefield in the County / Fair Oaks area needs to be made. We should get statistics on Valencia St. traffic volume, before and after, to show County PW that bike lanes will not slow traffic. Tony P. was requested to put the map on the website. 6. Woodside Road, John L.: a new letter from Sten Hauser points to the problem of keeping cars from using the bike lane as part of the on-ramp. Pictures were provided of the recommended striping. The dialogue with Caltrans will continue. What is the legal requirement for a narrow bike lane? The upgraded signs are taking a long time, and the stripe across the PG&E drive will come eventually. 7. RC 4th if July Parade, Steve V.: Our entry with concept has been accepted. We have to meet next week to firm up the design. Mike H. requested sources of penny-farthing riders' names. 8. May 30th Lawyer Talk wrap-up, Steve V.: We had a good number of sign-ins from attendees. Interest stayed high, and people took the materials set out. We need to follow up with sign-ins. A plug for Dawn Hassell is indicated. SVBC would like to do the same in their area, too. 9. Bay in a Day ride, John L.: Volunteers are needed for the double century rest stops in Palo Alto and Millbrae on Saturday, July 22nd. SVBC has the Gunn HS rest stop. It is possible that a SAG car will be provided by Zip Car. The workers ride is the week before. 10. Weekend get-togethers, Steve V.: Can we do weekend informal meetings at a coffee shop with or without a ride? 11. City BPAC report: Pat is absent this month. 12. Summer event ideas, Steve V.: A ride to a Giants game to rubberneck and a campout at Angel Island were suggested, with the latter getting a good response. 13. Meeting adjourned.
