About SVBC Staff and Board Members
While all of our members have something to contribute to the rapidly growing movement to mainstream bicycle transportation, here are some faces you might see around more often championing our cause.
Staff members are dedicated to carrying out the goals set by the Board of Directors. They run the organization’s programs and coordinate member and volunteer activities.
Board members of SVBC are elected for two-year terms at our annual Winter Party in December. Directors set the policies and goals of the organization and ensure that it is operated in a sustainable manner.

Corinne Winter, Executive Director
corinne@svbcbikes.org
Corinne joined SVBC as the Executive Director in 2005. She is passionate about bicycle advocacy and other transportation, land use, and environmental issues. She is responsible for implementing the vision of the organization as defined by the Board of Directors. She oversees the organization's fundraising, membership, marketing and outreach, board development, educational offerings, and supervises all SVBC programs. She works with the members of SVBC to advocate for cyclists and bicycle facilities at the local, regional, and national levels. Corinne also sits on the board of the Bay Area Bicycle Coalition (BABC), on the VTA Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee (VTA BPAC) as an ex-officio member, and on the San Jose Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee (SJ BPAC).

Shelly McHenry, Program Coordinator
shelly@svbcbikes.org
Shelly comes to SVBC with a love of commuting by bike. From trekking a self-built bicycle up to UCSC campus, to using the bike car on Caltrain all the way to San Francisco, Shelly is excited to implement programs that increase bicycle awareness. Last spring she helped speak to middle school students about bicycle safety in SVBC’s bicycle education program. Coming from a background in writing, graphic art, and web design, Shelly will put these skills to use as she helps arrange such programs as Bike To Work Week, Safe Route to Schools, and other programs as they arise.

maiki interi, Communications and Operations Coordinator
maiki@svbcbikes.org
maiki is dedicated to empowering communities through the use of technology. He has studied and participated in social networks and virtual communities for the last decade. It is his view that SVBC can accomplish its mission of healthy alternative transportation by giving our community a place to communicate and organize. It is his hope that open access and creative usage will make our website an excellent source of information and coordination for cyclists in Silicon Valley.
When maiki isn't breaking the webserver or evangelizing open web standards he works and plays with cog motive, an art and technology collective he co-founded. He loves all aspects of the web, and is always open to new ideas and suggestions.
maiki spells his name without capitals, and has the longest title in SVBC.

Anne Fisher, Administrative Assistant
Anne started riding late in life, and is still timid about going into high traffic areas. However, she enjoys using her bike for commuting and short errands. She is committed to SVBC's mission of safer bicycling and getting more people out on their bikes both for health and the environment.

My goal is to improve bike safety and accessibility for riders of all levels. I greatly enjoy helping others integrate bicycling into their lives in a safe and enjoyable manner.
Jerri-Ann has been an SVBC member since 1998, and is now a life member. She serves on the Mountain View Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC), and as such, helps coordinate the Mountain View BPAC’s Bike to Work Day Energizer Station at the Mountain View Transit Center. She is an enthusiastic and frequent SVBC volunteer bike parker, and coordinated bike parking for the Guadalupe River Park Grand Opening in September of 2005. Jerri-Ann fell in love with bicycling over 25 years ago and has not stopped pedaling since. She rides for transportation, recreation, and vacation trips. She became an LCI about a year ago and looks forward to honing her teaching skills.

Greg McPheeters, Vice President
Bicycles need to be taken seriously in transportation infrastructure so that people will ride them. SVBC is the organization that is making this happen in Silicon Valley.
Greg first joined SVBC as Executive Director in 2001 and has been on the Board since 2003. Greg has been a bicycle commuter in the South Bay since Elementary School and grew up Mountain Biking in Stevens Canyon, working in a local bike shop, and touring in the Santa Cruz Mountains. He currently works as a Design Engineer for a Renewable Energy Company.

Celia joined the SVBC Board in 2007 and took on Secretarial duties later that same year. She firmly believes that the bicycle is a viable mode of daily transportation and is enthusiastic about improving conditions for bicyclists. She would also like to increase awareness of the existing resources that support bicycling. Celia has lived in Mountain View since 1999, and worked for 5 years as the Bicycle Program Manager at VTA. She also enjoys valet parking bicycles with SVBC at numerous street fairs and Stanford football games.

I believe that SVBC truly has the potential for great changes this year, and I look forward to using my local contacts as well as my project management skills to help facilitate those changes.
David joined the SVBC Board in 2007 and was elected Treasurer in 2008. He is a lifelong resident of Santa Clara County and has been involved in cycling for most of that time. David has served as President and past President of Almaden Cycling Touring Club and is active in leading long rides. He is involved in the Sierra Club as the transportation chair for the Guadalupe group and has been active at the Loma Prieta chapter.

Gary has been an avid cyclist for over forty five years. He graduated from the University of Southern California in 1971, and earned a law degree at Hastings College of the Law in 1975. His passion for cycling has also shaped his professional career. Approximately fifteen years ago Gary transformed his law practice from general personal injury cases to a specialized cycling practice. Today his entire case load involves cycling related matters. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the California Bike Coalition, the League of American Bicyclists, and the Sacramento Area Bicycle Advocates Advisory Committee. Gary believes cycling is a vital part of the solution to our nation’s public health and transportation problems. He views bicycle advocacy as a catalyst that awakens the motoring public to the possibilities for bicycling to solve some of our country’s most complex issues.

Mark is an active member of SVBC's Peninsula Committee and the City of San Mateo's Bicycle & Pedestrian Advisory Committee. He has lived in San Mateo for 17 years. For many years a recreational cyclist, Mark became interested cycling issues and advocacy about 5 years ago. He now frequently runs errands and commutes to the train on his bike. One of his goals for SVBC is to develop a system of safe, efficient, and complete cross-town bike routes in peninsula and south bay cities, which he thinks will be a catalyst for more cycling of all kinds.

I believe that with an expanded membership base and full-time staff, SVBC can become an even stronger force for improving conditions for cyclists in Santa Clara County.
Paul has been an SVBC member since 1988. He has served on the Board since 1999. He has been a member of the Palo Alto Bicycle Advisory Committee since 1996. He is particularly interested in legislative issues and currently serves on the California Bicycle Coalition Legislative Committee. Paul is a committed bicyclist, using his bicycle for commuting, recreation, touring and everyday transportation. Paul wants to see SVBC reach out to the recreational and competitive cycling communities and build a stronger membership base.

Didrik has been biking to school or work since the first grade and has been pedaling throughout the United States ever since. He has also had the privilege of living in the Netherlands, which to him is the gold standard of a cycling oriented world. Didrik's current commute is 27 miles round trip through both San Mateo and Santa Clara counties, rain or shine, night or day. He enjoys recreational cycling but is also completely fascinated by utility cycling — using our bikes to move through the world. Didrik brings to the SVBC Board a designer’s perspective on the world and an interest in removing barriers to cycling in our physical environment. He believes that our roads should be designed to accommodate all modes of travel in harmony so that we can exercise one of our core American values: choice.

Chris joined the SVBC Board in 2007. He is interested in working with the organization in its efforts to reach out to traditionally underserved communities. He is one of several people to help start a South Bay Latino Environmental Group, “Nuestro Camino,” and has worked with the Transportation and Land Use Coalition (TALC) and SEIU Local 1877. Chris is currently a student of Urban Regional Planning, with an emphasis in Environmental Planning, and teaches in the Environmental Studies Department at DeAnza College.

Mary conducts bicycle safety education classes for both parents and kids at her sons’ elementary school. She plans on becoming a certified bicycle safety instructor so she may teach and reach more of our community. She is also a Menlo Park Bicycle Commissioner working on safe routes to school for kids. Most recently Mary was appointed co-director for Bicycle Outreach for the Tour of California. As a Board member she continues to promote bicycle safety education and believes cycling to be a safe and fun means for exercise and commuting to school and work.

Jack has bicycled to work year-round since 1971. He has volunteered with the Bicycle Exchange for over a decade repairing and distributing bicycles and helmets to charities, as well as teaching bicycle repair classes. However, he is just as comfortable “suiting up” to work with businesses, foundations, and government organizations.
Jack is interested in expanding the Bicycle Exchange and other education/safety programs, doing outreach to the Hispanic community, and developing grant applications that benefit the full range of SVBC goals.
Jack is also the 2007 Silicon Valley Bicycle Commuter of the Year.

Sue is a resident of Los Altos, having lived in the South Bay/Peninsula area for over 34 years, leaving when she attended college at UC Davis. She has worked at Sun Microsystems, Inc. for over 21 years and in that time has connected with hundreds of people in the community. She is currently a Sun Foundation Ambassador (focused on closing the digital divide through volunteerism). Sue also volunteers as a coach working with middle school girls through the non-profit Girls For A Change.
She fell in love with cycling in 2005 and has participated in four benefit rides raising over $6000. She has volunteered for numerous SVBC events, and commutes to work as much as possible, cycling almost daily.
